Nora Mzavanadze
Ms. Nora Mzavanadze is half-Lithuanian, half-Georgian by origin and comes from Lithuania. Before starting MS and PhD studies, Nora has worked for the Lithuanian Green Movement (in 'Aukuras' and 'Zemyna' regional branches) and for the biweekly newspaper 'Zalioji Lietuva' (Green Lithuania). Since then she has collaborated with the Ministry of Environment of Lithuania, Public Policy and Management Institute (Lithuania), UNDP Lithuania, Lithuanian National Radio and Television, 'CSR network' consulting company (UK), weekly opinion newspaper 'Atgimimas' (Lithuania), CEU Business School (Hungary), International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD, Canada) and UNEP through CEU GEO collaborating center.
Ms. Nora Mzavanadze works on various aspects of sustainable development (assessment, strategic management, corporate social responsibility, environmental management) and development studies (environment and development). Her PhD thesis aims to estimate and explain the change in environmental pressures as a result of economic liberalization and industrial restructuring in former Soviet Union countries. Her PhD research has brought her as a visiting scholar to the International Institute of Industrial and Environmental Economics, Lund University, Sweden (3 months in 2006) and D. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia, Moscow, Russia (2 months in 2010).
Ms. Nora Mzavanadze has participated and presented papers on sustainable development and environmental topics in a few international scientific conferences in Lithuania, Spain, Turkey, Austria and Hungary. She has also participated in a number of various training courses and summer schools organized by UNEP (Switzerland, Georgia, Panama), CEU Curriculum Research Center (Hungary), Hermann von Helmholtz Association (Germany), Slovak Academy of Sciences (Slovakia), Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration (RIMAS) (Austria), Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain), University of St. Gallen (Switzerland).
Ms. Nora Mzavanadze was also awarded the Young Economist's Award and Premium of academician Kazimieras Meskauskas in 2007 (awarded by the Lithuanian Science Academy, Vilnius, Lithuania) and the title of Person of the Year 2008 (awarded by news portal for Lithuanian communities abroad Lietuviams.com). She is also listed in Marquis Who is Who in the World
